As you likely know, one can turn on or off Bluetooth by navigating to Settings app > Devices > Bluetooth section. Here you can view all paired Bluetooth devices as well as a link to open advanced settings of Bluetooth.
Bluetooth and Bluetooth settings are missing from Settings app
At times, you might notice that the Bluetooth section is completely missing from Settings. Of course, Windows 10 doesn’t display Bluetooth section and settings if your PC doesn’t come with Bluetooth.
And if you’re sure that you PC has Bluetooth, then the Settings app is not showing Bluetooth section and settings because Bluetooth has been disabled in Device Manager. Yes, if the Bluetooth’s hardware is disabled in Device Manager, the Settings app doesn’t list Bluetooth section and settings.
Enable or disable Bluetooth in Windows 10 Device Manager
Just because your PC has Bluetooth hardware and drivers are installed for the same, that doesn’t mean that Bluetooth is enabled. Here is how to enable or disable Bluetooth in Windows 10.
Step 1: Open Device Manager. There are couple of ways out there to open Device Manager in Windows 10. The easiest way is to right-click on the Start button and then click Device Manager.
Step 2: In the Device Manager, double-click on the Bluetooth tree to see the Bluetooth hardware’s name. As you can see in the picture below, my ThinkPad T450s has Intel Wireless Bluetooth.
Step 3: If there is a down arrow on the Bluetooth icon (refer to the picture above), then Bluetooth is turned off. To turn it on, right-click on Bluetooth’s name and then click Enable. Bluetooth should be enabled immediately without any delay.
Step 4:Open Settings app now. If the Settings app is already open, please close it once and then open it again to see Bluetooth settings under Devices (Settings > Devices).
Hope this helps!
Windows 10 has always included support for Bluetooth hardware. Well, this support has been here for a while now. And with support for the latest version of Bluetooth 5.0 LE, it keeps getting even better. But at times some users have found that when they go on to use Bluetooth, they find that the option to turn on Bluetooth is missing in the Windows 10 Settings app or the Action Center. If you face this issue, then this post will help you fix the problem.
Toggle to turn Bluetooth On or Off is missing
The scenarios could be different:
In order to fix these issues, you will have to carry out the following fixes:
1] Update, Rollback or Reinstall the Bluetooth driver
If you recently updated your drivers, maybe you could uninstall or rollback any drivers and see if that helps. If you did not, then you could, via Device Manager, either update or uninstall and fresh install the Bluetooth driver. It could be the Bluetooth Generic Adapter driver, Intel(R) Wireless Bluetooth, etc.
2] Enable Bluetooth from the Device Manager
Start by hitting the WINKEY + R button combination to launch the Run utility. Now type in devmgmt.msc and hit Enter. This will open the Device Manager for you.
Now, click on the entry labeled as Bluetooth and expand it.
Then, right-click on all the Bluetooth driver entry. It could be labeled as Bluetooth USB Module, Intel(R) Wireless Bluetooth, etc. If you see it disabled, then click on Enable device.
Restart your computer to check if the issue is fixed or not.
3] Enable Services for Bluetooth
Press the WINKEY+R button combination and then type in Services.msc and then hit Enter to open the Windows Services Manager.
Locate and right-click on each of the following services and click on Properties to check if the Startup Type is set to Automatic:
Right-click on the services listed above and click on Properties.
Make sure that the Startup Type of all is set to Manual. Click on Apply and then click on OK.
If the above services are not running, right-click on the service and click on Start.
See if this has helped!

Normally, the system tray of the taskbar or the notification area of Windows 10 is the place where Bluetooth icon resides and appears when turned on. It performs multiple functions like allowing a user to join personal area network, adding a new Bluetooth device and more. An accidental click on ‘Remove icon’ of Bluetooth options, however, can cause you to lose that icon. You may find it difficult to retrieve the icon under such circumstances.
Nevertheless, here are few steps you can try to restore the missing Bluetooth icon in Windows 10/8/7
Bluetooth icon missing
In Windows 10, open Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices. Here, make sure that Bluetooth is turned On.
Then scroll down and click on the More Bluetooth options link to open the Bluetooth Settings.
Here under Options tab, ensure that Show the Bluetooth icon in the notification area box is selected. Click Apply and exit.
The Bluetooth Icon Has Disappeared Windows 8
Windows 7/8 users may type “control panel” in the search box of Windows 10. Next, type “change Bluetooth settings” in the Search Control Panel field at the upper-right of the Control Panel
When you do so, Change Bluetooth Settings link should appear under Devices and Printers heading. Click the link to open the Bluetooth Settings window.
Under the Options tab, check Show the Bluetooth icon in the notification area option.
Click OK and restart Windows. The icon should reappear the next time you log in.
Bluetooth Device Disappeared
If this does not help you, there is another thing that you need to do, and that is to check if the Bluetooth Support Service is running on the computer
To do so, type services.msc in Start Search and hit Enter to open the Windows Services Manager.
In the list find Bluetooth Support Service and double-click on it. Ensure that the Service is set to Manual (Trigger Start) and Started.
Bluetooth Disappeared Windows 8
The Bluetooth service supports discovery and association of remote Bluetooth devices. Stopping or disabling this service may cause already installed Bluetooth devices to fail to operate properly and prevent new devices from being discovered or associated.
Now check if you find the Bluetooth icon in the Notification Area.
Hope this helps.
