Avast Performance Tips: Some users also reported Avast is actually slowing down their computer or Internet connection. By loading Avast services after avast disk usage 100 services you will basically turn on Avast after everything else in Windows is loaded. When you need to turn on your computer and want to just quickly check something online. This can also happen when you are playing your favorite game avast disk usage 100 every FPS frame per second counts.
If it does, you can permanently disable Windows Search. Disabling this service will stop the indexing of all files. But you will still have access to search, which will take longer time. Note that Windows Search will start again when you restart your computer. This is the command prompt window.
In this window, type in the following command: Check to see if your disk usage and the performance of your computer improve. If they do, you should permanently disable Windows Search as described below.
If not, move on to Method 2. Fix 2: You can automatically update all your device drivers to the latest correct version with Driver Easy. Driver Easy will automatically recognize your system and find the correct drivers for it. But with the Pro version it takes just 2 clicks and you get full support and a day money back guarantee: Fix 3: Disable SuperFetch SuperFetch helps to decrease boot time and make must-load programs more efficiently.

I am sometimes getting 100% disk usage without anything impactful running on the PC (at least not that i started) and disk usage stays at 100% on task manager for a while. I sort the processes due to disk consumption and the max value i see is 0.5 MB/s yet disk usage is 100%. Does anyone have this going on with their PC and more importantly anyone knows a fix? I hear a lot of sound coming from my laptop when this occurs and it worries me about my hardware too. Please help.

Hi Bubbs. I'm Greg, an installation specialist and 9 year Windows MVP here to help you.
Uninstall Avast, McAfee and any other 3rd party antivirus or scanner besides Malwarebytes. Use only built-in Defender which always offers best Windows performance with least issues, and is from Microsoft who knows how to protect their OS best.
1) See fixes here for 100% disk usage:
http://www.thewindowsclub.com/fix-100-disk-usag..
https://www.kapilarya.com/fix-windows-10-100-pe..
2) Update your drivers from the PC or motherboard maker's Support Downloads web page, using the full model number, Serial Number or Dell Service Tag on sticker. Compare the latest drivers available for download with the ones presently installed in Device Manager reached by right clicking the Start Menu. Make sure you have the latest BIOS or UEFI firmware, Chipset, Display (Video), Sound, USB3, Bluetooth, Network and all other drivers, or else download and install the latest now.
3) Go over this checklist to make sure the install is set up correctly, optimized for best performance, and any needed repairs get done: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki..
Start with Step 4 to turn off Startup freeloaders which can conflict and cause issues, then Step 7 to check for infection the most thorough way, then step 10 to check for damaged System Files, and also Step 16 to test a new Local Admin account. Then continue with the other steps to go over your install most thoroughly.
4) If nothing else helps you can run a Repair Install by installing the Media Creation Tool and choosing from it to Upgrade Now. This reinstalls Windows in about an hour while saving your files, apps and most settings, solves many problems while also bringing it up to the latest version 1809 which you need anyway and by the most stable method. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/m..
--------------------------------------------
But remember that in Windows 10 everything depends upon the quality of the install, and Factory or Upgrade installs are inferior installs which most enthusiasts won't even run because they'd expect endless issues. Consider now or later doing the Clean Install in this link which compiles the best possible install that will stay that way as long as you stick with the tools and methods given: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki..
There is also an automated Fresh Start that reinstalls WIndows while shedding corrupting factory bloatware, saves your files, but doesn't clear the drive to get it cleanest: https://www.howtogeek.com/265054/how-to-easily-..
I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.
Please do not mark 'No' to the popup asking if this post helped you, as it may remove my ability to help you further. Just ignore it until problem is solved and then please mark the post which helped most as Answer to help others.

That is huge, these settings together with using the Wise tools once a month, will keep it in shape.
Here are temp file settings for a normal user, adjust to suit your requirements.
All browsers, limit the cache to 50mb ( that's MB, not GB )
IE & Edge share the same setting.
Control Panel > Internet Options > General > Browsing history > Settings. Refer SS below.

Chrome is not so straight forward, as you found out, last time we did them.
How to set Google Chrome cache to 50mb max temporary files.
With comps, there is always more than one way to do things, try this way.
Right click on the Google Chrome shortcut > Properties.
Copy & Paste this below after .exe' as per SS ( Screenshot )
NOTE: There is a space after .exe'

Click > Apply & then OK.

Last night I was watching a youtube video on my firefox browser when it froze. I hit ctrl+alt+del to get to task manager to try to end the task, but it wouldnt end. My disk usage was at 100% and the laptop was going slowly. I tried restarting it, but couldn't and had to hold down the power button to shut it down
Turned it back on this morning, started fine, and opened firefox to search google for something, firefox froze again, I ctrl+alt+del again to get task manager and again couldn't end the task and again had 100% disk usage
I again had to hold down the power button to shut my laptop down. I started it back up and immediately ran MBAM, updated it and scanned. It removed some items (nearly all of them were from LenovoBrowserGuard, something that came on my Lenovo laptop). I restarted through MBAM and as it started the restart process, I got a windows popup saying SkyDrive.exe wasn't working or responding (don't know what that is)

It finished restarting & I opened task manager again. Disk Usage started at 0%, but steadliy climbed to 100% within a few seconds. A few seconds later and disk usage was back down to 1-5% with occasional spikes up to 40-50%. Fabfilter pro q 3 license key. I open Chrome and posted on here. When I first opened Chrome disk usage hit 100% again, before going back to 1-5% and spikes up to 50%.
I dunno, if the spikes up to 50% disk usage are normal, but I don't recall seeing it that high before when using task manager to shut down programs
Just wanted to make sure my laptop is back to normal and good to go. Anything I can do to double check it & make sure I caught the problem?
Thanks
